Laundry Day Tips

Laundry Day Tips

Having hookups for a washer and dryer is one of our many amenities available for residents. Not only is the setup of these appliances straightforward, It also beats driving around Atlanta, GA in search of an open laundromat on a Saturday night. Today, our Arrive Perimeter Blog has a few laundry day tips to help you conquer the laundry on the day of your choosing. Doing laundry in your apartment may sound boring, but there are ways to make it easier and more effective.

Stain Treatment

Print out a basic stain removal guide and hang it by your washer; that way you will know what you need to make a solution for treating stains where and when you need it. For a more in-depth stain removal information refer to this Stain Solutions Guide put out by the University of Illinois’ Extension Office.

Washing & Drying

It may seem like a hassle, but Lifehacker suggests checking the tags. Before you start washing, check the tags on each item of clothing. This will help you determine just how to wash each load. You can then sort your laundry by tag. Which clothes need to be washed in cold water? Warm water? Does an item need to be hand washed or dry cleaned? Washing your clothing correctly will help it last longer.

Throw a dry towel into your dryer with wet laundry — it will absorb moisture and speed up the drying process.

Fold items right out of the dryer to help them keep those crisp fold lines while in your drawers.

Other Tips

Don’t lose socks! Provide each member of your household with a zippered mesh bag for dirty socks. On laundry day collect, zip, wash, dry, and then return. No more lost socks!

Babble recommends pre-sorting your laundry by having several hampers. Put your laundry into each hamper right away — this will save you time (and a lot of hassle) when you’re throwing your laundry into the machine on laundry day.
